Unfortunately, I do not use these functions like Posts and Comments drop list. As for the slideshow, you will need to upload photos on a 3rd party website like flikr then go to slide.com to create your slide show. As for background image, you can do that under 'Layout' in your blog's tabs.
Slide show 3rd party site, you mean add gadget and java script? but I thought they have picassa too? If you go to 'add gadget', you can see the 'slide show' function.
Background image for the whole blog, I tried a several times at the html, still no luck. Can't figure it out how to alternate the language to change the background.
